Wow! What a month October was! I went to my first-ever book launch for Wise ole Whisky, written by the fabulous Dr Janice Belgrave and illustrated by me. If you came along to the launch, thank you so much - I had a blast meeting you all! Also, thank you if you’ve bought a book, I’m so grateful for the support!
Just a few days later, I attended my second book launch to celebrate the incredible PATU by Gavin Bishop. As a children’s book illustrator at the very beginning of my career (I only started illustrating children’s books about two years ago, so I still feel very new to the industry) it was a surreal experience to hear a true pro like Gavin speak about his process, and then to have the chance to talk to him - little Ella, reading his books in school, could have never dreamed of having such an opportunity!
As if that wasn’t enough excitement for one month, I also took part in my first Artober challenge. Of course, me being me, I couldn’t do it by halves, so I participated in four challenges and created around 15 new pieces based on prompts from creators like Furry Little Peach and of course SCBWI.
You might already be thinking, “Wow! Such an action-packed month!” and you’d be right, but wait, there’s more! Of course, I’ve been working on my client work, and I am currently illustrating a book, but I am very excited to announce that I have been busy working behind the scenes to offer art prints! Just in time for Christmas, so maybe that’s your Christmas shopping shorted? *wink wink, nudge nudge*
This time next week, you’ll be able to buy my art through my print store on my brand-new website!
Although I’ve had requests for prints, this is a new venture for me, so I’ll be testing the waters this holiday period and we’ll go from there. Some of the prints will only be available until the end of the year, so they are limited edition, but I will be releasing more prints early next year so stay tuned or sign up for my mailing list so that you don’t miss future updates!
Here's a sneak peek of some of the visual assets I've created for my new online shop.
